The Staron® Design Award judges met at the beautiful Sakes Restaurant in Sydney to view, and discuss all the amazing entries that were received. The decision was not easy with so many quality projects entered. The judges all agreed that the entry from SGR Audio was unique and explored the endless design possibilities with Staron®.
The art-like form of the MT3F and MT3FSL high-end speakers are beautiful aesthetically, and are also extremely high performance loudspeakers, made 100% locally in Melbourne. They are made of internal marine plywood construction, utilising constrained-layer damping techniques, and then outer-skinned with 12mm Staron® Solid Surface.
“Staron® Solid Surfaces was chosen because of it's ability to be joined seamlessly, as well as it's machine-ability and non-porous surface”, says Stuart.
“The completely seamless Staron® outer skin forms the perfect foundation to apply our industry leading high-gloss 2-pack painted finish. The Staron® product has proven stable over time, we have speakers on show that are over 3 years old which still look as good as the day they were painted. There are no seams or join lines showing! This was previously un-achievable with a timber outer skin as timber has a tendency to 'grow' over time”, adds Stuart.
This stunning and unique Staron® application captures the eye with its clean and smooth lines. SGR Audio Pty Ltd also uses Staron® Solid Surfaces as a front plate for high end power amplifiers. Congratulations to SGR Audio for an outstanding application.
