Sophia Watson - Indesign Magazine
As Editor of Indesign Magazine and former Editor of sister publication, DQ magazine, Sophia Watson is a professional Design Editor with a bold reputation for creative editorial direction. Working primarily on large-scale publications across all platforms, Sophia is an original thinker, best known for her provocative and highly-creative approach to content curation and 'pop-off-the-page’ features, edited artfully to fit the voice and attitude of the titles she directs. Sophia likes to disrupt and challenge accepted norms and traditions with her experimental (and a little bit cheeky) approach to editorial publishing. This approach ensures that her work – and her direction of the work of others – is consistently fresh and insightful material. Sophia leads a veritable artistic gang of local and global writers, photographers, designers, studios/firms and brands in addition to leading and mentoring a strong in-house team of junior editors and content writers. She has often been described by her colleagues and superiors as a “creative lunatic”, having an unorthodox, out-of-the-box style, developed from her years of experience across an eclectic list of editorial vocations including: product and industrial design, interiors, architecture, fashion, art, engineering, music, and even film.

Sophia’s goal as a Design Editor and media influencer is to lead the industry in continuing to demonstrate and document the value of creative culture in the wider mainstream marketplace, and ultimately, to communicate – in imaginative and challenging ways – why the world needs design.
